2023 - First Class
The next step, getting started.
In my last post I mentioned how I got interested in watercolor, and an overview of where I am now.
I wanted to show my work chronologically, so we’re starting with images from 2023 to document my progress over time. It took me a little while to get set up, but I’ve found the paintings from the “Intro to Watercolor” class with Greta Corens and I’ve posted the practice pieces below.
Click on the photos to expand.
SWATCHES - Color mixing practice

VALUES - Practicing a scene with only lights and darks

VARIEGATED WASH - Practicing gradients, attempting to transition colors smoothly

RIVER SCENE

COTTAGE SCENE

Here’s Greta’s version of the cottage scene.
“WILDERNESS OF GRASSES”
Here is a link to Greta’s grassy scene.
And that was about it! After this class I took a bit of time off and only had a few opportunities here and there to do one-off workshops and online videos courses. I’ll share those next.
Warmly,
Lana
